UPDATED - Full Closure of CO 9/US285 Intersection to take place for 7 days (Sept. 7-14)

Update Flyer for 7 Day Closure

As part of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s US 285/CO 9 Intersection Improvement & Bridge Replacement project in Fairplay, a full closure of Colorado Highway 9 between U.S. Highway 285 and 9th St. is planned to take place from 6 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7 to 6 a.m. on Sept. 14 during drainage pipe work under the highway. This closure will coincide with the closure of CO 9 north of Alma for another CDOT Bridge project.

Traffic Impacts & Detour Route

  • Starting at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7 and lasting until about 6 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, both directions of CO 9 between US 285 and 9th St. will be fully closed, with detour signage in 
  • place .
  • The closure will coincide with a full closure of CO 9 from County Road 6 to County Road 4 north of Alma for another bridge replacement project
  • Suggested detour route: East on CO 9 to 4th St., north to Bogue St., west to 6th St. to US 285. From southbound US 285: East on CR 3 to Bogue St., north to 4ᵗʰ St., and south to CO 9
  • Variable message boards, signs and construction devices will be present to alert motorists to the closure and detour route
  • Emergency responder and local access will be maintained
  • Motorists can expect delays and alternate routes are strongly advised
